"Basics for Unity, Integrity, and Lasting Development"
Dear Esteemed Members of the Korean Society of Endoscopic Neurosurgery,
Greetings. I am Young Il Kim, Professor of Neurosurgery at The Catholic University of Korea, and it is a great honor to assume the role of the 9th President of the Korean Society of Endoscopic Neurosurgery (KOSEN). I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the past presidents and members who have contributed to leading and building this society. In particular, I extend my deepest respect to the immediate past president for their dedication and commitment to both the external growth and internal development of our society.
Founded in 2014 as an Endoscopic Neurosurgery Study Group, our society has steadily grown by integrating the expertise of neurosurgery and otolaryngology. As of May 2024, we proudly have over 200 members, and we continue to build a strong academic foundation and an extensive professional network. This achievement is entirely due to the passion and dedication of each member.
During my term, I aim to guide our society through a period of reflection and consolidation. While external expansion is undeniably important, I believe internal strengthening is equally vital for sustainable progress. Under the slogan "Basics for Unity, Integrity, and Lasting Development (BUILD)", I plan to focus on the following objectives:
First, returning to our roots and core purpose.
In the early days of our society, beginners and experienced experts freely exchanged surgical cases and shared insights, fostering a vibrant and interactive community. However, such active engagement has somewhat diminished in recent years. I will ensure that platforms like case conferences are revitalized, allowing every member to openly share their experiences and challenges.
Second, establishing an Endoscopic Neuro-Surgical Atlas.
We will create a step-by-step surgical video database categorized by disease type and complexity. This atlas will serve as a valuable reference, offering practical surgical tips for various scenarios. My goal is to empower members with confidence and the tools to achieve excellent surgical outcomes.
Third, enhancing operational efficiency through structural reorganization.
I will review and refine the society's structure and operational processes, addressing areas that require improvement. This will ensure that members can participate in academic activities within an optimized and supportive environment.
By pursuing these three key objectives, I am confident that our society will continue to grow and evolve into an organization that every member can take pride in.
Dear members,
With your support and encouragement, I will dedicate myself fully to leading our society towards greater achievements. I sincerely ask for your active interest and cooperation as we work together to ensure the continued growth and success of the Korean Society of Endoscopic Neurosurgery.
Thank you.
